Fast, Light and Cheap prime lens for the DX line up...
Doesn't matter if it's just for your hobby or you're a pro shooter, prime lens is always a must have glass in photography world. I got my self a used 35mm F1.8G at good bargain for MYR550 only. The previous owner has taken good care of it and the lens is as good as new! Same as usual, once I reached home right after the purchase, immediate I took a few snap...the 35mm F1.8G truly lived up to its standard, the end result of the image is simply amazing.
I have never face any difficulty shooting around with this lens no matter indoor or outdoor. Thanks to its wide 35mm focal length and fast f/1.8 aperture, it is very very versatile and I don't mind if it'll replace my kit lens if I wanna travel lite. But of course, it has got down side too. I'll have to get my self closer to any object that I wanna shoot due to its wider focal length and this made me easily noticed! So, it's versatile but "inconvenient" in another way :)
My final words for this lens...
Many have had argument between the 35mm and the 50mm. What I'm trying to point is, this is a prime lens, and the focus is fixed. No doubt, many of both Nikon and Canon owner has had 50mm with them, it's the truth. But, how many of you enjoy this kind of fixed focal length lens? Some debate about its sweet spot, some debate about its sharpness and the list goes on without stop point. My personal opinion is, ask yourself 1st which one suit more for your daily photography. I had both the 35mm and 50mm.
In the end, I let go my 35mm and keep my 50mm. This doesn't mean the 35mm is bad. But I've got something more suitable for my daily photography to replace the 35mm, which is the 40mm AF-S Micro. The top concern here is the focal length, not the sharpness or built or whatsoever. If you think 50mm is too narrow for you, then this 35mm is a good choice. It's not perfect but it is sharp and fast enough.
That's all for now. Hope my quick review and image samples able to help/guide you all. Cheers!
